How do I install a translator for Discord?

Communicating in different languages on Discord is easier than ever with the Translator plugin for BetterDiscord.

This guide will walk you through the installation process, activation steps, and how to use the translator to ensure smooth conversations across languages.

Download Better Discord: Visit betterdiscord.app and download the application.


Install Better Discord: Follow the installation steps and open your Discord application.


Access Settings: In Discord, navigate to User Settings.


Find the Better Discord Menu: Scroll down until you locate the Better Discord section.


Navigate to Plugin Store: Go to Plugins, and access the Plugin Store.


Search for Translator App:

  • Look for the Translator app in the Plugin Store.

  1. Download and Install:

    • Click on the app, then download and install it.

    • Download Library Plugin:

      • Additionally, download the Library Plugin.


Confirm Installation:

  • Verify that both plugins are added in your Plugins section and Turn on both plugins.

    Note: Restart Discord to apply the changes.


    Activating the Translator:

    1. Receive a Message:

      • Upon receiving a message, locate the translator icon.

    2. Configure Translator:

      • Click on the translator icon and configure it as follows (recommended):

        • Input language for received messages: Detect language

        • Output language for received messages: Your language

        • Input language for your sent messages: Your language

        • Output language for your sent messages: Select the detected language manually.

      (Note: These settings apply per chat.)


    Using the Translator:

    1. Receive a Message:

      • The system will display the languages for translation.

    2. Translate a Message:

      • To translate, click on the three dots (...) and select "Translate Message".

    3. View Translation:

      • The translator will convert the message into your language.

    4. Reply:

      • Respond in your language; the translator will translate it accordingly.
